About The Book
Wheels to Ice: Born to Rise is a heartfelt coming-of-age memoir that showcases the inexhaustible determination of a skater who never stopped believing. From falls to flights, Aarush Tiwari takes readers behind the scenes of his journey through traffic, training, and tenacity. It’s not just about skating. It’s about identity, ambition. sacrifice, and family. Most of all, it’s a reminder that extraordinary dreams begin in ordinary places-with courage, love, and one brave step forward.
I never considered myself someone who would want to keep a diary. I always thought that diaries were for those who knew what was playing on their minds, had neat handwriting, and used beautiful words to express their feelings. I’m not like that. I use clumsy language. My thoughts take strange forms. Sometimes, when I write something down, it doesn’t feel real the next day. Still, I continued to write.
It started with me documenting episodes of my friends cracking goofy jokes, the sound of my skates on the ice that one morning, and my feelings the first time I executed a jump I had been practising for a long time. I wrote about the late nights when I couldn’t sleep because my mind was sprinting with opportunities and what-ifs and the early mornings when I wished to sleep an hour longer.
I envisioned this diary as a storehouse for those brief moments. However, an unforeseen event occurred. As I wrote more, it felt as though I was finally able to bring together the broken pieces of my life’s puzzle. It became a story about believing in yourself, even when it seems like everything is falling apart, failing, and trying again. This book aims to discuss the realisation that difficult times don’t indicate weakness but rather that you’re growing. These pages now remind me of all the times I wanted to give up and the reasons I didn’t. I recall the times when I was brave and the times when I was afraid. I see the friends who stood by me and the moments I stood alone but found a way to keep going.
I am aware that I am not the only person who has had this experience. Other young people—athletes, artists, and dreamers—have experienced the pressure of striving for greatness. This book is for anyone who has ever felt invisible, not good enough, or like their story didn’t matter. It’s for everyone who has ever been on the brink of something significant and been afraid to take the next step forward.
It’s more than just a diary. It’s a series of incidents that, when combined, tell an inspiring story of bravery, falling and rising, and hope.
Turn the page if you’re prepared to enter my world and witness the behind-the-scenes activities, the messy parts, and the moments that made me laugh, cry, and persevere. Because this isn’t just my story, it might be yours, too.
